The documentary „Arik Brauer – A youth in Vienna“ potrays the artist Brauer. He tells the story of his childhood in the viennese working-class district Ottakring, the surviving strategies he developed as a jewish child during the NS-era and his life as a young adult during the post-war period, when he co-founded the „Viennese School of fantastical Realism“.
The film reflects his bike tours across Europe all the way to Africa as well as his passion for hiking. It also revisits his involvement and participation in communism.
With Otto Schenk, Timna, Ruth, Jasmin and Naomi Brauer, as well as his hiking companion, the tibetologist, Ernst Steinkeller.
